Business Voice by Insight Survey | Member-facing FAQ copy
Business Voice is open to people aged 18 or older with genuine business, professional or industry experience relevant to the community.
Members may include business owners, founders, directors, executives, managers, department leaders, professionals, consultants, sole proprietors and people who influence business purchasing or strategy.
No.
Eligibility is based on your professional or business experience and whether your profile is relevant to the Business Voice community.
Company owners, employees, consultants, independent professionals and sole proprietors may all qualify.
Yes.
Membership belongs to the individual, not the organisation. Different people within one organisation may have different responsibilities and areas of expertise.
For some individual research projects we may limit participation to one person per company, branch, department or decision-making unit. Where this applies, it will be explained in the study.
We intentionally keep the initial joining process short.
The first Joining Survey captures the key information we need to determine eligibility and start matching you to relevant research opportunities.
It should take approximately 3-5 minutes.
You may later be invited to complete a more detailed Business Profile Survey so we can better understand your role, organisation and areas of expertise.
This may include your contact details, province, role or seniority, industry, business size and decision-making responsibilities.
A later profile survey may ask about areas such as employee numbers, turnover band, operating footprint, purchasing responsibility, technology use, business challenges and growth outlook.
Credible B2B research depends on knowing that participants genuinely hold the roles and responsibilities they describe.
Verification may include email or mobile confirmation, publicly available professional or business information, follow-up questions and checks for duplicate accounts.
Yes, provided you control the email address and are permitted to use it.
No. Each person should have one active Business Voice account unless Insight Survey has approved a specific exception.
No.
Participation is always voluntary. You decide whether an opportunity is relevant and whether you have time to participate.
Declining an invitation will not cancel your Business Voice membership.
There is no fixed number.
The frequency depends on your industry, role, profile and the research projects available.
Our aim is to send relevant opportunities rather than simply more opportunities.
Some studies require a very specific type of business or decision-maker.
Screening questions may therefore confirm things such as industry, company size, role, location, purchasing responsibility or product usage.
Not qualifying for a particular study simply means the project requires a different profile.
Research projects often require a specific number and mix of participants.
A survey may therefore close when enough responses have been received or when a particular category has reached its required quota.
No.
Research invitations are linked to your individual Business Voice profile and should not be forwarded to another person.
We are looking for honest, considered answers based on your own professional experience.
If you do not know something, it is perfectly acceptable to say so.
Business Voice may use reasonable quality checks to identify duplicate participation, unusually fast completion, contradictory answers, irrelevant open-text responses or automated activity.
Responses that cannot reasonably be relied upon may be excluded.
Many research findings are reported in combined or de-identified form.
However, anonymous and confidential research are not necessarily the same thing.
In confidential research, Insight Survey may need to connect your participation to your Business Voice profile for administration, quality control, follow-up or reward processing, while not ordinarily identifying you in the client report.
Where your identity may be visible, this will be explained before you participate.
This may happen in activities such as interviews, focus groups, site visits, recorded sessions, networking activities or an agreed follow-up.
Where your identity or comments will be attributed to you, this will be explained and the appropriate permission obtained.
Never provide information you are not authorised to share.
This includes trade secrets, customer information, passwords, privileged information or information protected by a confidentiality agreement.
Unless a research activity specifically states otherwise, you participate in your own professional capacity.
Member information is used to operate a credible B2B research community, assess eligibility, maintain an up-to-date profile, select suitable studies, communicate with members, conduct and quality-check research, protect the community and administer Voice Rewards.
No. Business Voice does not sell the member contact database. Identifiable information is shared only where there is an appropriate and explained reason, such as an activity you chose to join, an approved service provider needed to support the community, or a legal requirement.
Information may be processed by authorised Insight Survey staff and approved operators that support Business Voice. These may include QuestionPro, communication providers, recruiters, interviewers, moderators, analysts, translators, transcription providers, verification services, voucher and charity-donation providers, cloud or security suppliers, auditors and professional advisers.
Some approved technology or service providers may process personal information outside South Africa. Where this happens, Insight Survey will take reasonable steps to ensure the transfer and safeguards are consistent with POPIA and the applicable service arrangements.
Information will be kept only for as long as reasonably needed for the stated purposes, completed research, quality assurance, Voice Reward records, accounting, legal obligations, complaint handling, security or fraud prevention. When information is no longer required, it will be securely deleted, destroyed, anonymised or de-identified, subject to legal and research-integrity requirements.
Subject to POPIA and lawful limitations, you may request confirmation of whether personal information is held, access to that information, correction or deletion, an explanation of processing, objection to certain processing, withdrawal of consent where relevant, and changes to communication preferences.
No.
Some paid research studies will offer a Voice Reward. The reward amount and qualifying conditions will be shown before you decide whether to participate.
Quick Voice polls, discussions and other community engagement activities may not carry a monetary reward.
Depending on the options available for the research project, qualifying members may choose a voucher from participating reward partners such as:
The charity option gives members the opportunity to use their participation to support a worthwhile cause and contribute towards social responsibility.
You qualify when you successfully complete a rewarded research activity, meet the stated eligibility criteria and pass reasonable quality checks.
The specific conditions will be shown before participation.
Qualifying rewards will be processed within two weeks after the relevant survey closes.
This allows time for the study to close, responses to be checked and reward eligibility to be confirmed.
Unless a study specifically states otherwise, no Voice Reward is payable if you do not meet the eligibility criteria or if the required quota is reached before you complete the survey.
Please contact [email protected].
The Business Voice team will investigate any confirmed delivery or reward issue.
Use the My Profile area in the member portal or contact member support. Keeping your role, employer, industry and contact details current helps reduce irrelevant invitations.
Where the portal provides communication preferences, you can update the frequency and types of research communication you would like to receive. Some essential account, privacy, security or service messages may still need to be sent while your membership is active.
Where supported by the platform, you can manage your communication preferences or opt out of ordinary research invitations while keeping your Business Voice account.
You may close your membership at any time. Ordinary research invitations will stop after the request is processed. Certain records may still be retained where required for completed research, legal obligations, fraud prevention, accounting, dispute resolution or security, as explained in the Privacy Notice.
Insight Survey may mark an account inactive where there has been an extended period of no meaningful engagement or where contact details no longer work. Where practical, you may be contacted before an inactive account is closed and may be asked to refresh your profile before reactivation.
