Business Voice by Insight Survey
Where business experience becomes meaningful insight.
Business Voice is a professional South African business community created by Insight Survey.
It brings together business owners, entrepreneurs, executives, managers, professionals and decision-makers from across South Africa to share what they are seeing, experiencing and expecting in their businesses, industries and markets.
Business decisions are shaped by data - but behind that data are people with real experience.
Business Voice gives those people a place to be heard.
As a member, you may be invited to participate in surveys, Quick Voice polls, Business Pulse trackers, discussions, interviews, focus groups and other research activities relevant to your professional profile.
Your views contribute to a clearer understanding of the challenges, opportunities and changes affecting South African business.
Your voice matters - but there should also be something valuable coming back to you.
Business Voice is not designed to be a community where members simply complete surveys and hear nothing afterwards.
We want it to become a place where South African business decision-makers can share experience, see what others are thinking and gain useful insight into the market around them.
Business Voice brings together people making real decisions in South African businesses.
Through selected poll results, Business Pulse findings, discussions and Insight Drops, you can get a better sense of:
Sometimes knowing "Are other businesses experiencing this too?" can be just as valuable as the research itself.
Business Voice gives you access to a community of people who influence and make business decisions across industries.
Through Quick Voice polls and community discussions, you can share your own perspective while also seeing how other South African business leaders think about topical issues.
It is an opportunity to hear the collective voice of South African business, not just your own.
When members contribute their experience, we want useful information to come back into the community.
Where possible, members will receive selected:
Not every research project can be shared in full because of client confidentiality, but wherever possible we want Business Voice members to learn from the community they help create.
Your Business Voice profile helps us understand your role, industry, responsibilities and areas of expertise.
This allows us to invite you to research where your experience is genuinely relevant rather than simply sending the same surveys to everyone.
You may be invited to participate in surveys, Quick Voice polls, one-on-one interviews, focus groups, discussion boards, Business Pulse research, product or concept evaluations and other specialist business research.
Participation is always voluntary.
Your time. Your choice. Some research projects will also include a Voice Reward in recognition of the time required to participate. Where a reward applies, the value will be clearly communicated before you take part.
Depending on the reward options available for that project, qualifying members may be able to choose from:
The charity option gives members an easy way to turn their participation into a small contribution towards social responsibility and a worthwhile cause.
Qualifying rewards will be processed within two weeks after the relevant survey has closed, subject to successful completion, eligibility and reasonable quality checks.
Community activities such as Quick Voice polls, discussions and general engagement may not carry a monetary reward - the value of these activities is participation, feedback and access to the insight generated by the Business Voice community.
Relevant by design. Research opportunities are matched to your business and professional profile, helping us send opportunities where your experience is genuinely useful.
Insight flows both ways. You contribute your experience, but Business Voice also aims to bring selected findings, trends, poll results and market insight back to the community.
A community of business decision-makers. Business Voice gives members an opportunity to hear from other South African owners, leaders, professionals and decision-makers facing many of the same business realities.
Your time matters. Participation is voluntary. Survey length, closing information and rewards, where applicable, will be communicated as clearly as possible.
Professional and confidential. Business Voice is designed specifically for business audiences and is managed with appropriate research, privacy, confidentiality and quality safeguards.
More than a once-off survey. Business Voice is intended to be an ongoing community you can return to - to share your voice, understand the market and hear what South African business is saying.
Business Voice is operated by Insight Survey, a specialist South African B2B market research company.
Insight Survey manages the community, research design, member communication, data governance and reporting.
The Business Voice community technology is hosted through QuestionPro and may be supported by approved technology, communication, verification, reward and research service providers.
Business Voice is a research community, not a sales or lead-generation database. We do not sell the Business Voice member contact database to third parties.
Business Voice is a professional research community managed by Insight Survey. It connects South African business owners, entrepreneurs, executives, managers, professionals and specialist decision-makers with research opportunities relevant to their roles, industries and areas of expertise.
Members contribute informed views through surveys, Quick Voice polls, one-on-one interviews, focus groups and community discussions. The results help organisations better understand how businesses think, operate, buy, grow and respond to change.
Business Voice is designed to make business research more useful for everyone involved. Members receive opportunities suited to their professional profile, while clients gain access to credible business perspectives. Just as importantly, members should see value coming back to them through selected research feedback, useful business insight and survey-specific Voice Rewards.

No. The primary purpose of Business Voice is research and member engagement. Insight Survey will not sell the Business Voice member contact database to third parties. A client will not ordinarily receive a member's name or direct contact details. Any activity involving client contact, attributed comments, networking, product trials or business-development interaction will be explained separately before the member agrees to take part.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old and have genuine business, professional or industry experience relevant to the community. Membership may include owners, founders, directors, senior and middle managers, department leaders, professionals, sole proprietors and people who influence business purchases or strategy.
Not always. Eligibility is based on the purpose of the community and the quality of the applicant's business experience. A company owner, employee, consultant, independent professional or sole proprietor may qualify, depending on the approved membership criteria.
Yes. Membership belongs to the individual, not the organisation. Different people from the same company may have different areas of responsibility and can therefore hold separate accounts. For a particular study, Insight Survey may limit participation to one response per company, branch, department, ownership group or decision-making unit. Where this applies, it will be explained in the invitation or screening questions.
We intentionally keep the first point of contact short. The initial Joining Survey is designed to capture the most valuable information needed to establish eligibility and match you to relevant opportunities, with a target completion time of approximately 3–5 minutes.
Rather than asking for a long profile immediately, Business Voice may invite you to complete a second Business Profile Survey later. This allows us to build a richer picture of your role and business over time while keeping the joining experience simple and engaging.
The Joining Survey may ask for your name, preferred contact details, province, business role or seniority, industry, broad business size, decision-making responsibility and preferred types of research participation. A later Business Profile Survey may cover additional areas such as employee band, turnover band, operating footprint, purchasing responsibility, technology use, business challenges, growth outlook and professional interests.
B2B research depends on knowing that participants genuinely hold the roles they describe. Reasonable verification protects members, clients and the credibility of the research. Verification may include email or mobile confirmation, a review of publicly available professional or business information, follow-up questions, or duplicate-account and response-pattern checks. Any verification should be proportionate to the research purpose.
Yes, provided you control the address and are permitted to use it. If you change jobs or lose access to that address, update your profile or contact member support so that the account can be updated after appropriate verification.
No. One person may hold one active Business Voice account unless Insight Survey has approved a specific exception. Duplicate accounts, impersonation or changing contact details to participate more than once may lead to suspension.
No. Participation is voluntary. You decide whether an activity is relevant and whether you have time to take part. Declining an invitation does not cancel your membership.
There is no fixed number of surveys. Frequency will vary according to your industry, role, profile, communication preferences and the research projects available at the time. Some months may be busier than others. Our aim is to send relevant opportunities rather than simply more opportunities.
Where platform functionality allows, members can manage communication preferences and indicate how often they would ideally like to hear from Business Voice.
Clients often require a defined mix of organisations or decision-makers. A few screening questions may therefore check industry, business size, role, purchasing responsibility, location, product usage or another study requirement. Not qualifying for one study does not reduce the value of your membership; it means only that the project requires a different profile.
A study may close when the required number of responses has been reached, a category is full, the project is paused or the client changes the research scope. Where practical, the system will display a clear message.
No. Invitations are selected using your individual profile. Do not forward a personal survey link or allow a colleague, employee, family member or automated tool to answer through your account. Where another person is better qualified, contact the research team; they may be invited separately if the study allows it.
A useful response is honest, considered and based on your own experience. Read each question carefully, answer only what you know, explain uncertainty where appropriate and avoid disclosing information you are not authorised to share.
Insight Survey may use proportionate checks to identify duplicate participation, impossible completion times, contradictory answers, irrelevant open-text responses, failed attention checks, copied content or automated activity. A response may be excluded where it cannot reasonably be relied upon.
Many findings will be presented in combined or de-identified form, but “anonymous” and “confidential” are not the same. In confidential research, Insight Survey may be able to link participation to a member for administration, quality checks, follow-up or Voice Rewards while not ordinarily identifying the member in the client report. In anonymous research, the response cannot reasonably be linked back to the person. Where this distinction matters, it will be explained in the activity.
A client may know or see your identity where this is necessary for an activity and disclosed in advance, for example during a moderated interview, observed focus group, site visit, recorded session, attributed case study, networking event or agreed follow-up contact. Appropriate permission will be sought before deliberately attributing comments, images, recordings or business details to you.
Not where the invitation or activity is marked confidential. Research may contain unreleased products, prices, advertising, technology, strategy or other commercially sensitive information. Do not copy, photograph, record, publish or circulate confidential material without permission.
Do not share trade secrets, customer information, passwords, protected financial records, privileged advice or information covered by a confidentiality agreement unless you are authorised to do so. You may skip an optional question, leave the activity or contact the research team for guidance.
Unless the activity clearly states otherwise, you participate in your own professional capacity. Your answer should not be presented as your organisation's official position unless you are authorised to speak on its behalf.
Your time. Your choice. Reward values are set per survey and stated before participation. Where a Voice Reward applies, qualifying members may choose a voucher (Takealot, Woolworths or Amazon, depending on the options available for that survey) for the stated value or donate the equivalent value to a selected charity. Rewards are processed within two weeks after the survey closes, subject to successful completion, eligibility and reasonable quality checks.
Not necessarily. Where a Voice Reward is offered, the reward value and qualifying conditions will be shown before you decide whether to participate. Some Quick Voice polls, community discussions or other engagement activities may be unpaid.
You qualify when you successfully complete a rewarded research activity, meet the stated eligibility criteria and pass reasonable quality checks. Unless a survey specifically states otherwise before you start, no reward is payable where you do not qualify after screening or where the required quota is reached before you complete the survey.
Where a survey offers a Voice Reward, you will be shown the reward value and the available reward options. You can choose a voucher (Takealot, Woolworths or Amazon, depending on the options available for that survey) for that value or donate the equivalent value to one of the selected charity partners available at the time. The reward amount varies by survey.
Qualifying Voice Rewards will be processed within two weeks after the relevant survey has closed, subject to successful completion, eligibility and reasonable quality checks. Vouchers will be issued for the survey-specific reward value; charity donations will be processed for the equivalent value selected by the member.
As a standard rule, if you do not qualify after screening, or if the required quota is reached before you complete the survey, no Voice Reward is payable for that survey. Some studies may use a different reward arrangement. Where this applies, the alternative rule will be clearly explained before you start.
Use the My Profile area in the member portal or contact member support. Keeping your role, employer, industry and contact details current helps reduce irrelevant invitations.
Where the portal provides communication preferences, you can update the frequency and types of research communication you would like to receive. Some essential account, privacy, security or service messages may still need to be sent while your membership is active.
Where supported by the platform, you can manage your communication preferences or opt out of ordinary research invitations while keeping your Business Voice account. If you prefer to leave Business Voice completely, you can close your membership through the available portal process or by contacting support.
You may close your membership at any time. Ordinary research invitations will stop after the request is processed. Certain records may still be retained where required for completed research, legal obligations, fraud prevention, accounting, dispute resolution or security, as explained in the Privacy Notice.
